Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the shape poem technique in project-based learning for teaching English vocabulary, specifically among 5th-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Banjar Jawa. In this study, researchers employed a pre-experimental strategy. The researcher adopted a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The statistical analysis of student scores is used to assess student vocabulary competence. The research sample consisted of 38 fifth-grade pupils from SD Negeri 1 Banjar Jawa. The finding of the study was pupils' post-test scores improved significantly as compared to their pre-test levels. The data was assessed using a Paired Sample T-test, resulting in a sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000. This level of significance is lower than the standard alpha level (α=0.05). The results also demonstrate that using the shape poem technique in project-based learning can help students learn in class. As a result, using the shape poem technique in project-based learning is encouraged since it has a major impact on students' vocabulary abilities during the learning process; also, it can generate a joyful and pleasurable learning environment.
