Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to see the effect of stress on the incidence of sleep paralysis in medical students. The research method based on the analysis of 52 respondents of medical students selected by simple random sampling. The data were collected using a questionnaire containing 14 questions about stress and 8 questions about sleep paralysis. Data were statistically analyzed with logistic regression method using SPSS version 24.0 computer program. The results showed as many as 25 (48%) of respondents experiencing stress and 30 (58%) of respondents experiencing sleep paralysis. Stressed respondents had a risk of having a sleep paralysis of 4.6 fold compared to those who did not.
It is suggested that the leaders in the medical faculty should also provide psychological counseling and guidance facilities for students, especially those experiencing stress.
