Abstract: This study aims to determine the difference of biology learning outcomes between the students who are taught by applying discovery learning model and the students who are taught by applying direct instructional model in grade X SMA Negeri 18 Makassar. This study is a quasy-experimental research using pretest-posttest comparison group design. The population of this research is all students of grade X MIA at SMA Negeri 18 Makassar in the second semester of the academic year 2018/2019. Samples of this study were selected randomly and was selected class X MIA 4 as experimental class I and X MIA 3 as experimental class II. The data collection technique using the test in the form of multiple choice questions. The data analysis technique used is descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who are taught by applying discovery learning model and direct instructional model.
