Abstract


Every child has their own developmental tasks, including children with Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a condition in which a child's physical and mental development is delayed due to developmental abnormalities, including intellectual disability and intellectual disability. Mental disabilities are characterized by weak motor control, lack of coordination, reading with eyes that are too close together, mouths that are always open, difficulty understanding, sensory disturbances, delays in speech and language development. Providing puzzle games can be used as a means to improve fine motor skills, namely training the movement of small muscles such as fingers, fast coordination between hands and eyes. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in the development of fine motor skills in children with Down syndrome through picture puzzle media. This study used a qualitative method with data collection carried out using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that media activities using picture puzzles play a major role in the development and stimulation of the fine motor skills of children with Down syndrome. This activity plays a role in training their hand and finger muscles. It can be concluded that giving picture puzzles can improve the development of fine motor skills in children with Down syndrome.
