Abstract


The General lecture activity is one of the efforts made by the Makassar Maritime Polytechnic in shaping the character of the cadets. The participants of this activity are prospective cadets who are currently undergoing basic education at PIP Makassar. The purpose of the activity is to measure the level of career motivation and enthusiasm of prospective students as participants in the general lecture. The method employed was observation to assess the enthusiasm of prospective students in attending the public lecture. Furthermore, the utilisation of Google Forms to assess the level of motivation among cadets in pursuing a career in the military, particularly in the Indonesian Navy, has been considered. Based on the conducted observation, the results indicate that prospective students exhibit a high level of enthusiasm in attending the general lecture as evidenced by their behaviour that meets the readiness indicators, response to the speaker's questions and humour, focus, and adherence to instructions. Subsequently, based on the Google form that was completed by 318 prospective cadets, the results indicate that firstly, all participants comprehended the main points of the conveyed material. Secondly, with regard to the career motivation of prospective cadets, it is evident that a majority of them express a high level of motivation to pursue a career within the Indonesian Navy.
