Abstract

Sexual violence is a criminal act that can happen to anyone and anywhere. Perpetrators of sexual violence are categorized as criminal acts and can be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable laws. However, some cases of sexual violence are not disputed, recorded, and reported. This study aims to determine the decision-making process and why victims of sexual violence choose not to report cases. The characteristics of subjects in this study were early adult women who were victims of sexual violence. Three types of sexual violence will be examined in this study, namely rape, sexual harassment, and forced abortion. This type of research is qualitative with a case study method. The data collection carried out in this study used interviews with victims of sexual violence as primary data and friends of victims of sexual violence as secondary data. The research results show that the three respondents did not go through the entire decision-making stage. The reasons behind respondents for not reporting cases were feelings of shame, fear of people's views, and fear of damaging their good name. The implications of this study can be used as a reference for institutions dealing with cases of sexual violence to conduct socialization related to case reporting and for victims of sexual violence to have the courage to report cases of sexual violence.
