Abstract


Abstract. This research uses quantitative  descriptive methods. The purpose of this research is to determine the level of students’ listening abilities and the factor that influence students’ listening abilities. Data collection used multiple choice tests, true false and questionnaires. Data were analyzed through percentage statistics. The population in this research is class XI SMA Negeri 14 Makassar and the sample for this research is class The results of study showed that the listening ability os class XI IPS 4 SMA Negeri 14 Makassar was “poor” (58,6%). This is influenced by two factors, namely internal     23 (92%) students stated that they did not like learning to listen to German using audio factors and external factors namely 19 (76%) students stated that they did not like studying in the language laboratory because the facilities were incomplete
