The Role of Teachers in Instilling Disciplined Character in Elementary School Students in Pangkep Regency

Abstract


This study aims to determine the role of teachers in instilling the disciplinary character of students in grade IV SDN 19 Pacikombaja, Labakkang District, Pangkep Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of case study research. The subjects of this study were homeroom teachers, Islamic religious teachers, sports teachers and 18 grade 4 students of SDN 19 Pacikombaja. Data collection was carried out by observation, interview and documentation methods. The techniques used in data analysis are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion making. Triangulation used to explain the validity of data is triangulation techniques. This study produced information in the form of the role of teachers in instilling disciplinary character in grade IV students of SDN 19 Pacikombaja with the role of teachers as teachers, advisors, mediators and facilitators and the role of teachers as evaluators has been carried out as explained in theory, as for the character of discipline that is still low in the form of students who still come to school not on time,  The completion of assignments has not been on time and there is still cheating in exams but teachers make several efforts in dealing with this in the form of coaching by example, coaching by habituation, coaching good advice and coaching with punishment to be able to help instill disciplinary character in grade IV students of SDN 19 Pacikombaja.
