Use of Audio-Visual Media to Improve the Expressive Language Abilities of Autistic Children in Special Schools

Abstract


The problem of this research is that second-grade students with autism at Special School 1 Makassar are unable to express their desires verbally in their daily activities. The research problem statement is "How does the expressive language ability of second-grade students with autism at Special School 1 Makassar improve after using audiovisual media (videos)?" The objectives of this research are to determine: 1) The expressive language ability of second-grade students with autism at Special School 1 Makassar before using audiovisual media (videos). 2) The expressive language ability of second-grade students with autism at Special School 1 Makassar after the application of audiovisual media (videos). 3) The improvement in expressive language ability of second-grade students with autism at Special School 1 Makassar through the use of audiovisual media (videos). The research results indicate that the expressive language ability of second-grade students with autism at Special School 1 Makassar improved after the application of audiovisual media (videos). Before using audiovisual media (videos), the children could only say 2 words, and not correctly. After using audiovisual media (videos), the children could correctly say 8 words
