An Analysis of Introverted Students' Difficulties in Speaking English at Vocational High Schools

Abstract


Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi kesulitan siswa yang berkepribadian introver dalam berbahasa Inggris, untuk menyelidiki faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya, dan untuk mengungkapkan strategi dalam memecahkan kesulitan siswa yang berkepribadian introvert dalam berbahasa Inggris. Pesertanya adalah lima siswa SMK PGRI Minasate’ne tahun ajaran 2020-2021. Untuk mengumpulkan peserta introvert, tes Personality Inventory (EPI) Eysenck digunakan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan wawancara untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan lima kesulitan dalam berbahasa Inggris yang dihadapi oleh siswa introvert seperti kurang percaya diri, merasa malu, kurangnya penguasaan kosakata, kesulitan dalam belajar pengucapan, dan takut akan penilaian negatif. Penelitian ini juga menemukan empat faktor yang mempengaruhi kesulitan berbicara bahasa Inggris. Faktor-faktor tersebut adalah kurangnya latihan, kurangnya motivasi, faktor lingkungan dan kepribadian. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan strategi untuk mengatasi kesulitan dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris baik dari guru maupun siswa introvert.
