Abstract


This research was conducted on the basis of the problems found at SDN Maccini Makassar city, namely the low reading comprehension skills of students. This study aims (1) to describe the implementation of the know-want to know-learned strategy for class V SDN Maccini Makassar City, (2) to describe the reading comprehension skills of students at SDN Maccini Makassar City, (3) to determine the effect of implementing the know- want to know-learned about the reading comprehension skills of fifth grade students at SDN Maccini Makassar City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research design used was nonequivalent control group design. The independent variable of this research is the know-want to know-learned strategy and the dependent variable is reading comprehension skills. This study used two classes, namely the experimental class (VB) and the control class (VA). The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. Data collection techniques include observation sheets, tests, and documentation.
