The Effect of Smartphone Use on Basic Accounting Learning Motivation in Vocational High School Students in Makassar City

Abstract


This study aims to determine the effect of smartphone use on motivation to learn basic accounting in class X accounting students at SMKN 1 Makassar. The variables in this study are the use of smartphones as the independent variable (X) and learning motivation as the dependent variable (Y). The population in this study were all students of class X accounting at SMKN 1 Makassar, amounting to 149 students. The sampling technique used was the proportional stratified random sampling technique sample of 60 students. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive percentage analysis, instrument test consisting of validity test and reliability test, hypothesis test consisting of simple linear regression analysis, product moment correlation analysis, coefficient of determination and t-test. Based on the results of data analysis that has been carried out, a equation model is obtained Y = 34,409 + 0.129 X, which means that for each additional 1 unit of social interaction, learning motivation has increased by 0.129 units. From the results of the product moment correlation analysis obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.113 and is in the low category. Furthermore, the results of the analysis of the coefficient of determination (r2) obtained the value of r2 = 0.420, this means that smartphone use on learning motivation is 44 percent and the remaining 56 percent is influenced by other factors. Meanwhile, the results of the t-test analysis obtained a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, which means that the use of smartphones has a significant effect on learning motivation, thus the hypothesis is accepted.
