The Effect of a Scientific Approach on High School Students' Learning Achievement in Economic Subjects in Selayar Regency

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the scientific approach on student achievement in economics class XI IPS SMAN 8 Selayar. The variables in this study are the scientific approach as the independent variable (X) and learning achievement as the dependent variable (Y). The population in the study were all students of class XI IPS SMAN 8 Selayar, totaling 35 students. The sampling technique used a saturated sample of 35 students. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive percentage analysis, instrument test and hypothesis testing. The instrument test consists of validity and reliability tests, while hypothesis testing consists of simple linear regression analysis, determinant coefficients and t-test. Based on data analysis using SPPS V.25.00 for windows, a simple linear regression equation model Y = 2,171 + 0,017X is obtained, which means that if there is an addition of one scientific approach value, then the value of learning achievement will increase by 2,171. From the results of the coefficient of determination, the value (r2) is 0,213 or 21,3 percent, which means that the effect of the scientific approach on learning achievement is 21,3 percent while the remaining 78,7 percent is influenced by other factors. And from the results of the t-test analysis, a significant value of 0,005 < 0,05 is obtained, which means that the scientific approach has a significant effect on learning achievement, thus the hypothesis is accepted.
