The Effect of the Teams Games Tournament Learning Model on Social Science Learning Outcomes of Elementary School Students in Makassar City

Abstract


The aim of the study was to find out the description of the use of the TGT learning model in the social studies content learning process in the experimental class, to find out the learning outcomes of students in the IPS content after implementing the TGT model, and to determine the effect of student learning outcomes when using the TGT learning model. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis show that the application of the TGT learning model to the teacher's observation sheet has increased from the first meeting with the good category and the second meeting with the very good category. Based on the pretest results in the experimental class, the category was not good and the posttest results were very good. Meanwhile, the pretest results for the control class showed a poor category and the posttest results showed a poor category. Then, based on the results of inferential statistical analysis, P = 0.000 is less than α = 0.05. The results of the study used the normality test with the Shapiro-Wilk Normality Test with posttest data normally distributed. Test the hypothesis using the Independent Sample T-Test with the post-test data of the control and experimental classes, there is an influence on social studies learning outcomes. It can be concluded that based on research conducted in class V UPT SPF SD Negeri Parang Tambung II Makassar city, it shows that learning using TGT in the experimental class is classified as increasing, social studies learning outcomes for experimental class students are classified as very high and, there is a significant influence on learning using the TGT learning model on the use of the TGT model in social studies learning for fifth grade UPT SPF students at SD Negeri Parang Tambung II Makassar City.
