The Effect of Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Strategy on Reading Comprehension Skills of Elementary School Students in Maros District

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to find out how DRTA describes the reading comprehension skills of fourth grade students at SDN 223 Inpres Tangkuru Maros Regency, then to find out how the description of reading comprehension skills for grade IV students at SDN 223 Inpres Tangkuru Maros Regency uses the DRTA strategy and to find out whether there is an influence the application of the DRTA strategy to the reading comprehension skills of fourth grade students at SDN 223 Inpres Tangkuru, Maros Regency. In this study, the data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the use of the DRTA strategy at the first meeting was effective and at the second meeting it was very effective. The implementation of learning using the DRTA strategy went very well because the percentage of the first and second meeting categories increased. The results of the inferential analysis using the independent sample t-test showed a probability value of 0.001 <0.05 so that it can be concluded that the description of the DRTA strategy on the reading comprehension skills of fourth grade students at SDN 223 Inpres Tangkuru went very well, while in the control class without using the DRTA strategy. are in the good category, and there is an effect of implementing the DRTA strategy on the reading comprehension ability of fourth graders at SD 223 Inpres Tangkuru.
