The Influence of Using Flash Card Media to Improve Beginning Reading Skills of First Grade Elementary School Students on Thematic Learning in Makassar City

Abstract


The purpose of this study is to describe the use of flash card media on students' initial reading skills in the thematic subjects of class 1 SD Inpres Barombong II, Tamalate District, Makassar City, to describe the description of students' initial reading skills in thematic subjects of class 1 SD Inpres Barombong II Subdistrict. Tamalate Makassar City after using flash card media and to find out whether there is an effect of flash card media on students' initial reading skills in thematic subjects of grade 1 SD Inpres Barombong II, Tamalate District, Makassar City. The population in this study were all students of class 1 SD Inpres Barombong II class 1A as many as 31 students and class 1B as many as 30 students selected by purposive sampling technique. and documentation of the learning process and research documents. The data analysis technique used is descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results of descriptive statistical analysis showed that the experimental class students' initial reading skills increased after being given treatment in the form of flash card media, as evidenced by the average students' initial reading skills test results increased after being given flash card media treatment. Based on the results of inferential statistical analysis of hypothesis testing, P = 0.008 is smaller than 0.05. So it can be concluded that there are differences before and after giving flash card media to students' initial reading skills in thematic subjects of 1st graders of SD Inpres Barombong II, Tamalate District, Makassar City.
