Improving the Ability to Cross at Zebra Crossing through Learning Video Media for Children with Mental Disability at Special Schools in Makassar City

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) The initial ability to cross the Zebra Cross in mentally retarded children before the application of learning video media. 2) The ability to cross the Zebra Cross in mentally retarded children after the application of learning video media. 3) Improving the ability to cross on the Zebra Cross for mentally retarded children through the application of learning video media. The research was conducted with a quantitative approach and descriptive research type. The research subjects with the initials AB were students with mental retardation (Down Syndrome) class VI at SLB N 2 Makassar. The technique of collecting data is done by doing tests. Data analysis was carried out by comparing the ability to cross on the Zebra Cross before and after the application of learning video media to mentally retarded children. It was concluded that the results of research on the ability to cross on the Zebra Cross in children with mental retardation (Down Syndrome) class VI at SLB N 2 Makassar through the application of learning video media showed an increase. Namely, before the application of learning video media, children were only able to do 2 steps of crossing the Zebra Cross correctly, and after the application of learning video media, children are able to do 5 steps of crossing the Zebra Cross correctly.
