Abstract
This study aims to determine 1) to describe the learning independence of class VIII students of SMPN 33 Makassar, 2) to describe the learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMPN 33 Makassar, 3) to examine the influence of learning independence on the learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMPN 33 Makassar. Data on science learning outcomes were collected by means of a test, while data on learning independence was collected using an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by regression and correlation analysis. The results of this study are 1) The learning independence of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 33 Makassar has a percentage of 74.10% which falls into the high category. Students who have very low learning independence 0, low 0, medium 6, high 123 and very high as many as 25 students ,2) The level of science learning outcomes for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 33 Makassar has an average of 19.52 which is included in the medium category, 3) Independent learning of students has a positive effect on the science learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 33 Makassar.
