Abstract
Laying hens entrepreneurship is a business that has promising prospects to be developed both on a small and large scale. Chicken eggs of this type are consumed more by the community than native chicken or baboon eggs because they are easy to obtain at a cheaper price and generally larger in size. However, the maintenance of this type of chicken requires more special, careful, and painstaking handling. This paper was compiled based on a literature review and the results of an interview with a layer chicken farmer in Sinjai, aiming to provide an overview and reference material for those who are interested in starting and running a business as a layer chicken breeder. This paper describes several things that need to be understood as a determining factor for the success of a laying hens business, namely seeds, feed raw materials, ready-to-use feed and medicines, livestock rearing facilities, and human resource skills. He also described the start-up capital (RAB) for 300 laying hens, which is estimated to be only around 39 million rupiah. The implications in the form of negative impacts on the environment from laying hens are relatively small and how to overcome them is very easy and can even bring additional benefits.
