Abstract: Bamboo has an important role for the ecosystem around the world and the socio-economic of local
communities. Collection, identification, and tracing of bamboo relationships are essential in their breeding
efforts. The objective of this research was to determine the bamboo relationship in Selayar Island based on
morphological characters. Identification were done on the vegetative character of bamboo, namely:
rhizomes, bamboo shoots, culm, culm sheath, branches, and leaves. Data were analyzed by cluster analysis
using UPGMA and PCA method respectively using MVSP 3.1 software. The results of UPGMA analysis formed
two main clusters, namely Schizostachyum cluster and Bambusa, Dendrocalamus, and Gigantochloa
cluster. PCA analysis found three morphological characters separated two clusters, namely culm sheath
characters, the height of auricles, and size of branches.
