Abstract

Abstract. All traditional medicinal plants contain secondary metabolite compounds. One of the nutritious secondary metabolites is the endophytic fungus. Endophytic fungus is a fungus that lives in the plant tissue without causing disease in the host and produce antifungi compounds. This study aims to determine the ability of antifungal activity of microbial isolates from traditional medicinal plants against Candida albicans. Isolate of Endophytic Fungus selected subsequently characterized to determine the characteristics of morphology & physiology. The results showed that 12 isolates were isolated from traditional medicinal plants such as Kecapi (Sandoricum koetjape), Soursop (Annona muricata), Papaya (Carica Papaya), Jamblang / Coppeng (Syzygium cumini), and Durian (Durio ziberthinus) which shows the inhibitory activity against Candida albicans that is isolate EKK-A2, isolate EDK-D1, isolate EPK-D1, isolate EPK-D2, isolate EDK-A1, isolate ESK-D1, & isolate EKK-A1. Based on antagonistic test it is known that EPK-D1 hasthe highest clear zone which is 25,7 mm. The results of the macroscopic morphological test of the seven isolates have green mycelium such as powder collection, mycelium as brown sand grains, white and white mycelium while on the microscopic characteristics of the seven isolates have large conidia. The results of physiological tests showed that the seven isolates were able to grow in the temperature range between 25oC-40oC, also can grow at netral and acidic pH.
