Abstract


Abstract:     This research was quasy experiment which aims to know the effect of PBL model to students' critical thinking skills. The determination of the sample class in SMAN 2 Panca Rijang was done by purposive sampling, so that the experimental class was XI IPA2 taught with PBL and control class XI IPA1 taught by direct instruction model. Measurement of students' critical thinking ability was conducted by using essay test that have been validated before use. Data collection was conducted by giving pre-test and post-test. The research data was analyzed by ANCOVA. The results showed that there was effect of PBL to students' critical thinking skills. Students who are taught with PBL tend to be better trained in critical thinking skills during the learning process the students were taught by direct instruction.
