Abstract

Abstract:    Soft coral is part of a coral reef ecosystem that can produce secondary metabolic compounds, which are responses to the environment to survive. One of these secondary metabolics is antioxidants. The purpose of this research was to determine the bioactive compounds contained in soft corals Nephthea sp. The sample used maceration using methanol solvent. Results of rendering of Nephthea sp extract were obtained as much as 4, 1354 grams then the extract results were then carried out phytochemical tests and several bioactive compositions consisting of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, steroids, and saponins. The conclusion of this research is that there are 5 types of bioactive compounds that support phytochemical testing, namely, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, steroids, and saponins. Keywords: Soft coral, Nephthea sp, Bioactive compounds, Nephthea sp methanol thick extract.
