Abstract

Abstract: The research is a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent research design of control group design. This study aimed to determine the increase in interest and learning outcomes of biology among students who are taught by the models learning cycle 7E and conventional. The study population were all science major students in grade Sciences at Senior High School 9 Pangkep. The samples were taken by purposive sampling. The data interest learning were collected by using learning interest questionnaires and the data learning outcomes were collected by multiple choice tests. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and independent sample t-test.  The results showed that students who were taught with the models learning cycle 7E had an increased interest in learning biology and had learning outcomes biology in the high category. Whereas, students who are taught by conventional learning models have an increased interest in learning biology in the low category and have learning outcomes in the medium category. Results of hypothesis testing by an independent T test showed Sig. (2-tailed) <α = 0.05 or 0.000 <α = 0.05, it is mean H0 rejected and H1 accepted. Based on the testing criteria, it can be concluded that 7E Learning Cycle model is influence improve student interest learning and learning outcomes of biology. Keywords: Learning Cycle Model 7E, Interest in Learning, Learning Outcomes
