Abstract


Abstract:  The aim of this research is to determine the critical thinking skills of biology students through the Problem Based Learning model. The research method used was quasy experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research was all students of XI grade at  Senior High School 14 Bone. The researcher used purposive sampling, where two classes were taken as samples. The sample consisted of class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental group and class XI MIPA 3 as an control group.  critical thinking skills was measure by giving tests in essay form, including pretest and post test. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. the hypothesis tested by ancova with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that in the experimental class the average results of students' critical thinking skills increased from 38.06 to 61.31. The results of the anakova test statistics for students' critical thinking skills showed sig (2-tailed) <α = 0.05, which is 0,000. Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that the problem based learning model influence to  critical thinking skills of students at XI grade in Senior High School 14 Bone.  Keywords: critical thingking skills, problem based learning.
