Abstract


Absract:     This development research aims to develop an effective biological practicum guide / laboratory guidance based on the guided inquiry learning model for class XI, students at  High School16 ofMakassar. The design of this study uses R & D with a 4-D model including define, design, develop and disseminate.However, this research was carried out until the develop stage. Learning that focuses on the involvement of students so that students are more active in building their knowledge can be implemented with inquiry learning methods (inquiry). One of the methods to improve psychomotor skills and provide a complete experience to students is through practice in a laboratory or in practice site. In the implementation of laboratory or practical activities needs a guide which consists of the purpose of the practicum, practicum procedures, observation sheets, tools and materials, observation sheets for practicum activities; usually called a practical guide book or practical guide. In learning at school, practicum instructions are usually found in textbooks. In practicum instructions in this textbook, the teacher must provide instruction and guidance to students in carrying out activities. In practice, the teacher provides guidance and direction that is quite clear and detailed to students, so that the part of the plan is made by the teacher. These types of methodsdo not givethe students opportunity to develop their potential including their investigative abilities.Therefore, a practical guide that is able to direct understanding and develop the potential of studentsis needed, this guided inquiry-based practicum guide can be one of the solutions. Practical worksheets consist of student identity, practicum title, theoretical basis, goals, tools, materials and work steps. The results of this study are practicum guides using language that is easy to understand and in accordance with EYD. By developing effective guided inquiry based biology practical guides,it is expected to be a solution for students to be able to support students to work scientifically, so that the knowledge and skills acquired by students are not only from remembering or memorizing a set of facts, concepts or theories but also they can discover and construct that knowledge and give meaning through the real observation.
