Abstract


Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of applying the Guided Inquiry Learning on The Student’s motivation and learning outcomes in Biology class of SMA Negeri 2 Sidenreng Rappang. This was a quasi-experimental study involving two groups that one of them as experimental group and the other is the control group. The population of this study is X grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Sidenreng Rappang and two groups were chosen by random sampling. The groups chosen as the study sample are X MIA 2 as the experimental group and X MIA 5 as the control group. Type of research instrument that used by questionnaire and essay test in multiple choice. Data of  critical thinking ability was collected by questionnaire and essay test before and after treatment and analyzed by using descriptive statsistics and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistic that used to describe the students’ motivation and learning outcomes and inferential statistics that used to hypothesis test was analysis of covariance. The results show that significant value of motivation and learning outcomes less than 0,05 (α < 0,05) and the significant value between motivation and learning outcomes less than 0,05 (α < 0,05). It means that applying the guided learning influences to students’ motivation and learning outcomes of student, and students’ motivation have relation with learning outcomes of student.  Keywords: Guided Inquiry, Motivation, and Learning Outcomes.
