Using Story Telling to Improve the Speaking Ability of the Third Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Pangkajene

Abstract


This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using story telling in improving students’ speaking ability in English. This study adapted  a mixed method research  with a sample of 29 students from IX Al Farabi class using cluster random sampling technique.  In this study, data collection was carried out by conducting pre-test, post-test, observation sheets, and questionnaires. The result of this study  found that story telling was effective in improving students’ speaking ability in English as seen from the t-test scores, that the t-test was greater than the t-table. The researcher found all the students actively participated in this research. The researcher also found that students gave good feedback on the use of story telling in improving their English-speaking skill.
