Abstract

Dating relationships can end in separation due to conditions left by marriage. Individuals who have a commitment will experience a decrease in physical and psychological health which can be overcome by forgiving. The purpose of this study is to determine the dynamics of forgiveness in men who are left married. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Respondents in this study were four men who met the criteria aged 20-40 years, the quality of the relationship with the desire to have a marriage relationship, and was left behind by their partner. Data collection of research conducted on respondents through direct interviews and recorded interview documentation held at the residence of each respondent. The results obtained by the researcher are that the four respondents experienced the dynamics of forgiveness by experiencing the opening phase (emotional conflict), the decision-making phase (awareness to forgive), the action phase (acting positively), and the deepening phase (finding the meaning of forgiveness). The research implication is that forgiveness has a positive effect on reducing the negative impact of being left by a partner
