Abstract


Celebrity worship is an adoration phenomenon ranging from mildly to profoundly psychopathology to celebrity. One of many factors has linked to celebrity worship is self-esteem. The aim of this research is to determine correlation self-esteem and celebrity worship among adolescence at Fans Club Musik Sulawesi Selatan (FCM Sul-Sel). Subjects consist of 64 adolescences. This research used quantitative methods and accidental sampling technique. The result of research showed that there was negatively correlation between self-esteem and celebrity worship among adolescence at FCM Sul-Sel (p=0.008, r= -0.328, R-Square=0.107). This research shows that the higher individual’s self-esteem is, the lower celebrity worship will be and vice versa. The result of this research is usefull for adolescence as an attempt to prevent negative impact of celebrity worship through increased self-esteem in order to avoid the various psychological difficulties.
