Abstract

The role of parents greatly influences children's abilities into adulthood. Fathers are considered to be the best providers of advice and direction for children, especially in exploring identity in preparing themselves for adulthood. However, not all children get the role of father until adulthood, which is called fatherless. This research aims to determine the psychological dynamics of fatherless women in the emerging adulthood phase. The research method used is a qualitative method with a case study approach. The respondents in this study were three fatherless women aged 18-25 years. The data analysis technique uses thematic analysis techniques, namely data driven. The results of data analysis show that the positive impact of fatherlessness on girls in the emerging adulthood phase is high achievement motivation, while the negative impacts include loneliness, difficulty making decisions, loss of role models, and barriers to socializing. Characteristics of emerging adulthood in fatherless women include instability, family focused/family oriented, and feeling in between. The implication of this research is that fatherless women can be used as evaluation material so that they are optimal in the emerging adulthood phase so that they are able to face the adult phase well.
