Abstract

Education enables individuals to accomplish their objectives. Obtaining an education in a hospitable environment is the goal of all individuals. However, it is acknowledged that bullying can occur in institutions and on college campuses. This study seeks to identify the causes and types of bullying, as well as the coping strategies used by bully survivors in order to survive bullying. This research employs qualitative methodologies including in-depth interviews. The subjects of the study were three students from X Makassar. According to the findings, the factors that contribute to bullying are seniority, jealousy, the same regional origin, and senior students expressing their frustration when in difficulty. The stages of the subject's coping process include initial feelings of unacceptability and discomfort, followed by attempts to adapt and accept the situation. The subject became enraged, but due to the culture of seniority, he was unable to fight back. As a result, he harbored resentment. The subject confides in the person closest to them, seeks entertainment, avoids the perpetrator, and prays regularly. In the final phase, the subject grew weary of being mistreated by seniors, increased his religiosity, sought social emotional support, and reflected on his own and his parents' struggles. In order to survive and adapt to the environment, the subject eventually began to embrace the situation that led to him being bullied and to forgive the perpetrator
