Gambaran Pola Asuh Grandparenting (Studi Kasus pada Individu Korban Perceraian Orang Tua di Kota Makassar)

Abstract


Parental divorce creates a sense of responsibility by grandparents to help childcare. This study aims to determine the process, factors, and types of parenting by grandparents through the direct experience of individuals as divorce victim. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were obtained through a direct interview that documented by two respondents and a grandmother from the respondent as a significant other. The results showed that the parenting style of grandparents occurred in two phases, namely helping and full. The phase of helping in the care of grandparents is caused by the divorce of parents and father's custody. The full phase occurs because of the father's decision to remarry (remarriage). The types of parenting and grandparenting style in the helping phase are companionate and democratic, while in the full phase are involved and permissive-spoiled (indulgent). The results of the study are expected to be used as data for further research using different methods and as a means of information for parents who intend to entrust their child care tasks to grandparents.
