Smartphones make it easier for students to meet their needs for information, communication, and entertainment, but the advantages inherent in smartphones can also cause psychological problems, such as nomophobia. Self-esteem is a factor that can affect nomophobia. This research uses correlational quantitative method. The Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) was adapted from Yildirim and Correia and the self-esteem scale was used as a measuring tool and the Spearman Rank correlation test was used as a data analysis technique. The results showed that there was a negative relationship between self-esteem and nomophobia in students of the Faculty of Economics, Makassar State University (p=0.002, r=-0.156). The lower the self-esteem, the higher the level of nomophobia in students.
