Abstract


This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and the tendency of anorexia nervosa in female students who live in Islamic boarding schools. The method in this study uses correlational quantitative. The subjects in this study were 84 students who lived in the Tahfidzul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School As-Salafi Walisongo Blitar. The results showed (84.5%) had a positive body image and had a moderate risk of anorexia nervosa (69.0%). Product moment correlation test showed that there was a significant relationship between body image and the tendency of anorexia nervosa in female students [pv = 0.006 (ɑ<0.05)]. The correlation coefficient value shows a negative value (-0.295) meaning that there is a negative relationship. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a negative relationship between body image and the tendency of anorexia nervosa in female students who live in Islamic boarding schools. The lower the body image score, the higher the risk of anorexia nervosa tendencies. It is advisable to conduct socialization regarding self-acceptance to avoid negative body image and the risk of experiencing anorexia nervosa tendencies.
