Abstract


Overseas students are students who study far from their original place of residence. What often happens to overseas students is homesickness. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in homesickness in terms of secure and insecure attachment styles for overseas students in Makassar City. The subjects of this study amounted to 105 students who wander in Makassar City. The sampling technique in this study used accidental sampling. The measuring instrument used is the homesickness scale and the attachment force scale. This study uses the Kruskal-Wallis test analysis technique with the help of the SPSS 22.0 for windows program. Based on the results of data analysis, a significance value (p) of 0.003 was obtained, which means there was a difference in homesickness in terms of secure and insecure attachment styles for overseas students in Makassar City. Students who have homesickness are found in insecure attachment styles. The implications of this research are for overseas students to know more about their attachment style with their parents
