Abstract

The root of the problem in this research is students' attitude and character, which tend to decrease, and students' creativity which is in the medium category. This study aims to develop a literacy-based mathematical learning model by utilizing the outing class strategy to develop junior high school students' character and creativity. The development of the learning model refers to the Plomp model, which consists of (1) preliminary investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/construction, (4) test, evaluation, and revision, and (5) implementation. Development of a literacy-based mathematics learning model by utilizing an outing class called the MB-LISOC Model. The MB-LISOC model uses learning activities involving nature as learning resources. Through an outing class, initially, boring learning activities became more interesting because they were carried out outside the classroom. These learning activities bring students closer to the environment because they are directly related to nature. This outing class involves students and teachers as the subject of the activity. Some examples of outing class learning activities that can be done are (1) calculating the area of a flat shape; (2) calculating the height of an object; (3) calculating the volume of an object; (4) calculating the perimeter of the flat wake area; (5) determining profit and loss, profit and loss percentage, tax (6) sets (7) how to collect and present data.
