Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) on students' mathematics learning outcomes. This study used a quasi-experimental method with an equivalent group design. The population in this study were all grade VII SMPN 4 Takalar. The cluster random sampling was used to choose grade VII-A as the experimental class, taught with RME, and grade VII-B as the control class, though with conventional approaches. Data analysis used were descriptive statistics, n-gain score, and t-test. The research findings show that; (1) there is an increase in students' mathematics learning outcomes taught with an RME approach of 19.30, and (2) there is an increase in students' mathematics learning outcomes taught with a conventional approach with of 7.30 (3) there is a difference on students' mathematics learning outcomes between the experimental and control classes
