Abstract


Abstrack . This research aims to: (1) measure the level of entrepreneurship skills of students in  Faculty of Engineering, Makassar State University; (2) Describe the constraints faced by students in entrepreneurship.  The research method used was qualitative approach through action research, using quantitative and qualitative data to reveal the level of entrepreneurial skills of students. The object of this research is students of at least sixth semester because they have taken entrepreneurship courses and other entrepreneurship programs. The data collection technique used a questionnaire and direct interviews with entrepreneurship students and lecturers. The research was conducted in Faculty of Engineering, UNM for 8 (eight) months. The results showed for 151 students, as many as 79.47% had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, 19.21% had an entrepreneurial spirit but still needed additional quality, and 1.32% were suitable to be employees or other professionals. The results also show that things still need to be improved are creativity, optimism, high standards, and liking new things. Furthermore, data on the constraints faced by students in entrepreneurship if sorted by levels are: (1) limited capital (90.73%); (2) confused in determining the type of business according to their competence (78.81%); (3) confused in choosing a location (78.81%); (4) Lack of experience in various aspects, for example in technical skills, business visualization skills, coordination skills, human resource management skills, and the ability to synergize company operations (77.48%); (5) not competent in managerial, lack of ability and performance in business management (68.21%); (6) inability in planning and less control over finances (66.89%); (7) Think that they are not talented in entrepreneurship (50.33%); (8) do not have a strong desire for entrepreneurship (49.01%); and (9) Think that too young to become entrepreneurs (15.89%).
