The Effect of the Application of the Synectic Model on Learning Outcomes of Short Story Appreciation

Abstract


Abstract. This study aims to: (1) describe learning outcomes in appreciating short stories before applying the synectic model, (2) describe learning outcomes in appreciating short stories after applying the synectic model, and (3) determine the effect of applying synectic models on learning outcomes to appreciate short stories. This research is a quasi experimental research. The study was conducted at the Makassar State University Campus, Faculty of Language and Literature. The subjects of this research are students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, the even semester of the academic year 2019-2020. Data analysis techniques used in this study, using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that: (1) student learning outcomes in appreciating short stories without applying the synectic model it is known that the average score of 75.9 with a standard deviation of 8.9, (2) student learning outcomes in short story appreciation by applying the synectic model it is known that an average of 90 with a standard deviation of 5.8 and (3) the synectic model influences the learning outcomes of short story appreciation students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Makassar State University.
