Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to describe the effects of lecturers’ corrective feedback toward students’ writing motivation through descriptive research design. The second semester students of English Education Study Program in academic year 2019/2020 consisting of 33 students are purposively taken as the data resources of this study. It is based on a simple assumption that they had already received the materials on the concept of paragraph development accomplishing with some various tasks to actualize their theoretical understanding and motivate them to write as the result. To obtain the data, a questionnaire in Likert scale was used and analyzed quantitatively and interview was analyzed qualitatively. The questionnaire analysis showed that students have high motivation in writing as the effects of their lecturers’ corrective feedback figured out by the mean score of 119.09. The interview also supported this data indicated by the students’ feeling of joy and like receiving responses from lecturers since their writing was read and corrected both in written and oral forms which spurs their motivation to make revisions to the errors in their writing. Based on these results, it is considerable that lecturers' corrective feedback was effective in stimulating student writing motivation.
