Abstract


Abstract. The purpose of this study is to determine the improve in the mastery of German vocabulary using short stories for students of 11-grade language major students in SMA Negeri 1 Cibal, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.  This type of research is Classroom Action Research which consists of two cycles and each cycle consists of four stages such as planning, implementation, observation, and reflection.  The subjects in this study are students of XI grade language major, with 30 people in total.  The type of data in this study consists of qualitative data and quantitative data.  Qualitative data was obtained through observation and quantitative data was obtained through the results of the vocabulary mastery test in cycle 1 and cycle II.  From the German vocabulary mastery test, students got an average score of 49 (almost medium category) in the first cycle and increased in the second cycle with an average value of 83 (good category). It is concluded that the use of short story media in learning can improve students' German vocabulary.  XI Grade Language major SMA Negeri 1 Cibal, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
