Abstract

Self-selection and preparation is one of the important tasks in the stages of student career development. This study aims to see the effect of perceptions about professional psychology on career choices for continuing professional education in psychology students in Makassar City. This study uses quantitative methods with simple regression analysis. The sample technique used was accidental sampling with data collection using two scales to measure each research variable, namely the perception scale about psychologists and the career choice scale for continuing professional education. The results of the hypothesis test showed that there was a positive perception about psychology on career choices to continue professional education in psychology students in Makassar City with a significance value of p = 0.000, p <0.05. The contribution of perceptions to career choice was 54.9% (R2 = 0.549 and p = 0.000; p <0.05). The implication of this research is as a source of information in evaluation for tertiary institutions as an effort to produce professionals in their fields, especially professionals in the field of psychology.
