Evaluation of Ability to Write Arabic in Class X Madrasah Aliyah Students

Abstract


This research is a type of descriptive qualitative and quantitative descriptive research which aims to describe and obtain data related to the ability to write Arabic in class X IPS students of Madrasah Aliyah Galesong Selatan. The source of the research data was students of class X IPS at Madrasah Aliyah Galesong Selatan. The research instruments were written tests and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that the ability to translate X IPS students at Madrasah Aliyah Galesong Selatan still make some mistakes in the process of writing Arabic sentences. The average score of class X IPS Madrasah Aliyah Galesong Selatan is 10.64 out of a maximum score of 30. The total score of 14 students is 750 and the average score is 53.52 and is included in the failed category. Then, based on the questionnaire data, it was found that internal factors and external factors were problematic in students' writing abilities. Internal factors include the difficulty of students in distinguishing hijaiyyah letters, the lack of student interest in learning Arabic, and the difficulty of understanding Arabic script rather than Latin writing. While external factors include teachers rarely using various media or methods, the lack of motivation given by teachers to students about learning Arabic and schools not holding Arabic themed activities.
