Abstract


This research examines the application of systematic desensitization techniques to reduce students' speaking anxiety in front of the class at SMA Negeri 10 Gowa. The aims of this research were: (1) To find out the description of students' speaking anxiety in front of the class of SMA Negeri 10 Gowa. (2) To find out the description of the implementation of systematic desensitization techniques in reducing students' speaking anxiety in front of the class of SMA Negeri 10 Gowa. (3) To find out that systematic desensitization techniques can reduce students' speaking anxiety in front of the class at SMA Negeri 10 Gowa. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi experimental design model with a nonequivalent control group design experimental design. The population of this study were students of class XI MIPA at SMA Negeri 10 Gowa who were identified as having high speaking anxiety. The research sample was obtained from a speaking anxiety questionnaire of 20 students who were divided into two groups, namely 10 students in the experimental group and 10 students in the control group. The research sampling technique uses saturated sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out using questionnaires and observation. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis.
