Abstract

The rapid development of internet access makes it easier for humans to complete tasks including employee work in the office, but it is not uncommon for an employee to access the internet which does not match the needs of the job. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between conscientiousness personality and cyberloafing behavior among employees. The subjects of this study were 204 employees who worked in the city of Makassar. The measuring instrument used in this study is an adaptation of the five factors cyberloafing scale and the big five inventory scale. Research data were analyzed using the Spearman rank hypothesis testing technique with the help of JASP for Windows. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between conscientiousness personality and cyberloafing behavior in employees with a significance value of 0.001 (p <0.05) and a correlation coefficient of -0.236. This means that the higher the cyberloafing of employees, the lower the conscientiousness, conversely the lower the cyberloafing of employees, the higher the conscientiousness. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview of the relationship between conscientiousness personality and cyberloafing behavior among employees.
