The Effect of PBL Model in Teaching English on Students’ Ability to Answer Hots Question Based on Pisa

Abstract


This research is a quasi-experimental study that aims to determine whether the application of the PBL model is effective in increasing students' ability to answer HOTS questions based on PISA. This research uses quantitative methods. The research sample consisted of 2 classes of students who were selected using the cluster random sampling technique. This study implemented the PBL model in the experimental class and the conventional model for the control class and gave post-test PISA-based HOTS questions. Based on the results of a significance level, P = 0.000 is smaller than 𝖺 = 0.01. It can be concluded that the application of the PBL model is effective in increasing students' ability to answer HOTS questions based on PISA.
