Si Gajang Lalenglipa: Conflict Resolution in Solving Problems in the Bugis Community of Makassar City Based on Local Wisdom

Abstract

This study aims to find out more about what and how the Sigajang Laleng Lipa tradition is carried out in Bugis society. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method. The research design is a descriptive approach design. The research instrument in this study was the researcher himself and several documents and data that had been collected. The data analysis technique used by the researcher is a qualitative data analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the Sigajang Laleng Lipa tradition is an ancient tradition and includes an extreme tradition to maintain self-esteem which Makassar people usually call Siri' na pacce. Sigajang Laleng Lipa is usually used by the ancestors of the Bugis tribe to solve problems between individuals and other individuals where misunderstandings occur between them. This tradition is an attempt to seek social justice. If someone is abused so that they feel that self-esteem in society is lost, then the effort to restore self-esteem as a form of upholding siri na pecce is to invite opponents to Sigajang laleng lipa. The Sigajang Laleng Lipa process is carried out by placing a sarong in the middle of the arena and a dagger or keris is prepared inside.
