Abstract

This study aims to find out how to increase the ability to make eye contact in grade 4 children with autism. By using experimental research techniques, this research uses a Subject Research Strategy (SSR) using an A-B-A design. Then the data that has been obtained will be processed with quantitative statistics and then presented through percentages, graphs and mean. The results of this study show that the ability to make eye contact in children before applying the Look technique is in a poor category. (1) the duration of the NA subject's eye contact before applying the Look technique was very low). (2) the duration of eye contact with the NA subject when given the look technique increased to the high category. (3) after being given treatment using the Look technique, the duration of eye contact for autistic children is in the sufficient category. (4) the ability to increase the contact duration of NA subjects in baseline 1 (A1) conditions in baseline 2 (A2) after being given therapy fell from a high category in intervention condition B to an adequate category, while the value achieved by NA subjects was greater than before given treatment. This proves that the Gaze approach helps to extend eye contact in autistic children. This is as a result of the impact of the intervention. Keywords: Eye contact, Look technique, Autistic children
