Abstract


The maddoja bine ritual in the tradition of the Bugis people in South Sulawesi, this ritual is carried out from generation to generation. to perform this ritual, whether groups or families or individuals incidentally or planned. Held to penetrate sins, mistakes, get rid of evil and to gain peace, inner strength, courage to tread life ahead. A series of rituals is performed to destroy the good relationship with the ruler of the universe. The continuation of the maddoja bine tradition in the Bugis people assumes that maddoja bine literally means seed. The people's farmers who perform the maddoja bine ritual will stand guard at night waiting for the rice seeds to be carried out. Social changes in the Bugis community have affected the application of the maddoja bine tradition, which means a form of respect for Sangiang Serri Dewi Padi. in La Galigo it is stated that Sangiang Serri means Batara teacher's daughter. Initially the Maddoja Bine application was part of a communal ritual in one of the Wanua villages.
